As a cloth diapering parent, you may often worry about using
cloth diapers at night. Are they absorbent enough? Will I need to keep waking
up to change them? Will baby get a rash from being in them for too long?
Yes, along with using cloth diapers when traveling, nighttime
cloth diapering is a big issue for most parents.
We’d talked about using diapers at night in an earlier post and thought we’d recap some important tips:
1.
Use Absorbent Diapers for the Night
Switch to the bumGenius Elemental or the Flip for night since they offer greater absorbency.
2. Keep Baby Dry with Stay-Dry Inserts
If you choose the Flip, then pair it with the
Stay-Dry Inserts for longer, drier hours. The 3 ultra-absorbent layers of
microfiber and a smooth stay-dry suede cloth wicks moisture from your baby’s
bottom, keeping your little one nice and comfy for at least 3 hours at a
stretch.
3. Double the Inserts
Using 2 inserts inside a diaper cover can
increase the absorbency of a diaper, however, it may also make the diaper a bit
bulkier.
4.
Wash your Diapers Right
Yes, using the wrong kind of detergent can
lead to product buildup on the diapers and make them less absorbent that usual.
So, if you notice that your diapers have ‘reduced’ in absorbency, maybe you
need to review your laundry procedure.
