Cloth Nappies have stood the test
of time and dates back into the decades, cloth nappies are coming back to India
in a modern and scientifically improved version. Also when environmental
concerns are at the forefront of our thinking, cloth nappies can make even more
sense.
Cloth nappies have entered India with award winning
designs, durable and soft material with a variety of colors from bumGenius. If
you want to give cloth nappies a try, but are worried about changing cloth
nappies or the washing work involved, here's all you need to know to help you
get started:
A modern cloth nappy has three layers:
The liner: This is a soft fabric usually made of suede or organic,
which sits next to the baby's skin. In
stay dry diapers this is the layer that keeps the baby dry.
The nappy: This is the absorbent part of the diaper and is
usually made of highly absorbent microfiber or multiple layers of cotton.
The cover: This outer layer
is water resistant made
of fabric with a laminate to keeps your baby's clothing dry even with the
heaviest wetter.
Cloth Nappy Covers
The cloth nappy
cover is the outermost layer of a nappy and this is what prevents the moisture
in the nappy leaking out. bumGenius cloth
nappies provide good quality covers and make the cloth nappy system work to the
best efficiency.

Washing Instructions
- Rinse Soiled/wet nap pies and place in nappy bucket
- Wash nappies every second day
- Put nappies in machine and do a rinse cycle, set machine's water level to the highest level possible. If you can't or you have a front loader, we recommend either doing an extra rinse cycle or saturating nappies under the laundry tap prior to putting them into the machine. This will ensure the nappies do not soak up what little water is generally used by front-loading machine.
- Wash in warm water with 1/4 of the recommended amount of detergent taking care to use a dye and fragrant free detergent.
Benefits for baby
Cloth nappies are so soft and comfortable to wear. They are much more comfortable than the
plastic and fiber disposable diapers that have fluffy fiber to make them look
comfortable. The natural fibers and organic cotton options all help to ensure
mum knows exactly what chemicals are going next to the baby’s skin as apposed
to a disposable nappy being made of super-absorbent chemicals, paper pulp,
plastics and adhesives.
